How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal
We recommend following these instructions before treatment to prepare for DiolazeXL:

+ Do not use sunless tanning products for one week
+ Avoid tanning and waxing for 6 weeks
+ Do not use retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or skin exfoliants for one week
On the day of your treatment, ensure your skin is clean. Do not put lotion, deodorant, or makeup on your treated area. You may shave your skin the day before laser hair removal. However, do not wax the area. Clean, shaved skin helps the laser focus on the hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface.

Before your laser removal, you will meet with one of our estheticians for a consultation. Our esthetician will review your medications and medical conditions. Antibiotics, birth control, and photosensitizing medications can increase irritation after laser treatment. Our esthetician will also review which areas you want to be treated.
To begin laser hair removal in our Indianapolis, IN office, we cleanse your skin. Then, we will give you protective eyewear to protect your eyes from the laser.
We will adjust the laser’s settings based on your skin type and hair color. The diode laser uses a concentrated beam of light that targets the melanin in the hair follicles. The laser disrupts the hair growth cycle in the first stage, or the anagen phase. It damages the hair follicles to prevent long-term hair regrowth.
Then, we will glide the handheld laser over the skin in controlled pulses of energy. You may feel a small pinch with these pulses and then a cooling sensation to calm your sensitive skin.
One session of laser hair removal will take 30 minutes.
Each hair grows at a different rate. For this reason, we recommend four to six treatment sessions with several weeks between sessions for the best results.

+ Avoid exercise, steam rooms, hot baths, hot showers, or exercise 24 hours after treatment.
+ Do not use retinol, scrubs, oils, scented lotions, and skin exfoliants 3 days after treatment.
